How to play

Cryptid: Become the Legend is a TTRPG (tabletop role-playing game), similar to games like Dungeons & Dragons.

In it, players either play as Cryptids that they create using the ‘Things’ system detailed in the Player Handbook, or as the Witness, the player who is responsible for creating the world and scenarios that the game takes place in.

The game is inspired by real stories and legends of folks’ favorite cryptids and monsters, with 8 different playable ‘classes’ of cryptid referred to as ‘Things’. Each Thing has different abilities and characteristics that players can choose from to create a new monster to lurk in their game setting, or to even recreate and play as their favorite cryptid, like Mothman, Sasquatch, or Ole’ Green Eyes!

Along with the Player Handbook, other important things to have to play are our custom character sheets that Cryptid players fill out and our Legends Cards Set. The Legends Cards Set includes 96 cards, 12 for each of the 8 Things, and these cards are used to level up your cryptid characters.
